Economic Stimulus? Exactly Who Benefited?

American workers haven’t been helped at all by the Government stimulus plan.  In fact, unemployment is at a 26 year high this month.  On the other hand, Congress is feeding itself quite well with trips and travel and no one really knows how GM has spent the billions and billions it received.

So who benefited from all that taxpayer money?  Everyone but the taxpayers.  Even the thieves who got us in this mess, the Wall Street wankers, are again receiving nearly record pay.  So to the Government I say, thanks.  You’ve managed to squander every dime you’ve stolen from hard working Americans.  Great…

Should this Congress draft a bill to reform the way health care is financed, I fear that in a year the blog post title will be “Health Care Reform? Exactly Who Benefited?” and the details will include 1) access to care for taxpayers is more limited with longer wait times, 2) Congress continues to enjoy its currect exceptional health care programs, and 3) the insurance companies and medical companies continue to profit handsomely.

  2. Jim,

When all you have to do to get more money is take it or print it, why worry about value for your money?

Government has no notion of fiscal responsibility because they’ve never needed it.

Is everyone in California going to IOU-backs? Saying the state has never defaulted isn’t so comforting in a year when lots of “nevers” have happened.

  3. I pray to God that this health care “reform” fails. Whatever happened to local governments? Why does everything need to be subsumed by the fed? It seems that a little more focus on “subsidiarity” is what we really need. I suspect that Pope Benedict will mention this in his new encyclical on the economic crisis due out on July 7.
