Sorry, Michael, I just couldn’t use ‘Targums’ as it always strikes me as an odd combination of Hebrew (Targum) + the English pluralizing ’s’ slapped on at the end resulting in a sort of inbred hybrid of neither English nor Hebrew.
That notwithstanding, Michael’s post is really interesting and deserves a wide audience. As I mentioned in comments over there, it’s similar to an argument made by Casey in his upcoming book on the Historical Jesus. It’s just great to see budding interest among New Testament scholars in the importance of Aramaic for the field.

Very encouraging! Maurice has also discussed this in his chapter and Aramaic reconstruction of Jesus’ final passover with his disciples in ‘Aramaic Sources of Mark’s Gospel’ pp 219-252. But you know that Jim – your lovely wife gave it to you!
