A Friendly Face In The Crowd

January 6, 2009 · 1 Comment

Today began with breakfast where I sat with Bruce Gardner, a friend from way back who used to help moderate the biblical studies list.  Bruce and I finally got to meet ‘in the flesh’ last night before the Presidential address.

I’m glad he’s here.  It means there will be at least one friendly face in the crowd today when I present.

After lunch we’re off to the University Library for a special tour of the Genizah unit.  I’m very much looking forward to that.

The weather is beautiful today.  It’s sunny with not a cloud in the sky.  And though brisk, it isn’t unbearable cold.  More anon…

It’s no good. You make me feel cold. It’s like an apology – “sunny with not a cloud”. It reminds of last April when despite the blue sky, the cold air sliced like a knife. Agony, it was. I’m glad you have a warm and friendly face in the audience today. :-)
