The Only Reason It Would Be Cool if McCain Won

It would shut up the slathering mobs who are acting like Obama is the Messiah.  Particularly the Christians who haven’t read the Bible enough to know not to ‘put their trust in man’.

[See Tim- how long do you imagine that took?]

And You Thought I Was Crazy To Dislike ‘Halloween’?

11/01/2008 7 comments

No, dear reader, the crazy ones are those who send their kids out into a land filled with guns and nuts more than willing to use them against strangers.  The BBC reports

A 12-year-old has been shot dead while trick-or-treating with his family in the US state of South Carolina. The boy’s father and brother were also wounded by gunfire, police said. The shooting occurred in Sumter at about 2030 (0030 GMT) when the family approached a house and a man fired on them from inside the property. A 22-year-old suspect, Quentin Patrick, is in custody, charged with murder and assault and battery with intent to kill, prison officials said.

When I was young we all went trickstering. The biggest challenge we faced was waiting to eat the candy till we got home and our parents checked it for razors in the apples and opened wrappers. Now, send your child to a door and some nutjob might open fire. That’s plenty of reason to keep little Tommy or Tammy home (or trickstering only at the neighbor’s who are well, well known).

As the family stood at the door of the house, they heard what they thought were fireworks, Sumter police chief Patty Patterson said.  The 12-year-old, his father and one of his three brothers were hit by bullets. The boy died in hospital, while his relatives’ injuries were non-life-threatening, officials said.

Still think the treats are worth the risk?  I think you’d be better off keeping your kids in on Halloween and giving them the candy you’d otherwise give out.  Tooth decay and obesity gained at home at the loving hands of mom and dad are far better than a bullet through the body.

Biblical Studies Carnival 35

11/01/2008 Leave a comment

This one hosted by Duane Smith.  It’s very thorough and includes a number of things which I hadn’t heard of (which really is the best part of these things for me).  Have a pleasant All Saints Day catching up on what you missed in October.

And if I may make this point- I’m posting, on December 1, the next Carnival.  So if you see something this month that you think cool, interesting, and especially something that’s gone unnoticed, please do drop me a note.

By actually showing up an hour early tomorrow.  So, be kind to your Cleric/Vicar/Priest by setting your clock BACK one hour.  It’s time to Fall Back

[n.b.- and if you're one of those lazy slackers who sleeps in Sunday anyway or who never goes to worship at all... well shame on you.  Pagan]
