Ok You People, Open Your Wallets…

My birthday approaches and dag nabbit you need to get me something.  Find suggestions here.  It’s the least you can do to repay my many kindnesses.  Especially you lot that have been rude and snarky.  Don’t waste your money on Tilling’s Very Sacred Ministry or Todd Bentley’s depraved mis-theology.

Fox News and the Wall Street Journal: Home of the Imbeciles

08/03/2008 1 comment

Fox News and the WSJ are so afraid that someone besides a Republican may be elected that they are pulling out all the stops and suggesting that fat folks won’t vote for Obama because they don’t like his thin-ness. You can’t make imbecility like that up.

Forget arrogance, Barack Obama is just too skinny to be president. That’s the assertion put forth in an article by The Wall Street
Journal, which reported Friday that the presumptive Democratic
presidential nominee may be turning off voters by refusing to chow down
at every pit stop on the campaign trail. The newspaper notes that 66
percent of the voting-age population is overweight — while 32 percent
fits the definition of obese — and that could be hurting Obama.

Goodness. American political punditry is as bankrupt as American politics and politicians. Ideas? Nah, we don’t need those. Solutions? Pshaw. We can do without those too. What we want to discuss is the weight of the candidate and whether people of a different sort can vote for him.

We deserve everything we get in our ‘leadership’.

Who Knew- The Zondervan Academic Group Blog

08/03/2008 1 comment

Zondervan Academic has a blog now with a right crowded list of contributors (and no surprise here, all of them are from a rampantly conservative viewpoint). It’s just got one post so far (from yesterday, its initial). It may be one worth watching, though, so subscribe to the feed and see what develops.  [Tip o' the hat to Adrian]

Justice Miscarried: Murdering Mary Winkler Granted Custody

08/03/2008 Leave a comment

Mary Winkler, the self confessed, convicted murderess, has been granted custody of her children by a court so foolish as to defy description. Murdering Mary served a slap on the wrist sentence after killing her husband by blasting a hole in his back with a shotgun. And now, her children are subjected to her unhinged rage by a judge who clearly doesn’t comprehend the notion of risk. If Murdering Mary snapped once, she may very well again. And the judge who set her loose on her children will bear the brunt of the blame.

WVLT reports

Knoxville-native Mary Winkler has been given custody of her three daughters according to several media reports out of Memphis. Last year, Winkler was convicted of shooting her minister-husband Matthew Winkler to death with a shotgun. She was charged with first degree murder but a jury in Selmer convicted her only on voluntary manslaughter and she was sentenced to time served and given probation. The Commercial Appeal reports Winkler picked up her girls from their grand parents yesterday and took them to her home in McMinnville.

Poor kids.

Aramaic, The Language of Jesus, In Europe

Idea.de reports, in part,

Read the whole. It’s right interesting.

Invincible Ignorance, Overblown Claims, The Press, and Archaeology

08/03/2008 1 comment

Ha’aretz demonstrates all that is wrong in reporting archaeological discoveries these days with this genuinely horrendous article title: Archeologists unearth proof of plot to kill Prophet Jeremiah. Wow, all that from a bulla! It seems that the press’s invincible ignorance and unyielding desire to fantastic-ize every little trinket pulled from the dirt in Jerusalem is neverending.

The finding helps corroborate the story pertaining to the biblical minister’s demand to have the prophet Jeremiah killed.

Nadav Shragai should be ashamed of himself. And Ha’aretz should be ashamed too, for using a more than erroneous title to substantiate a more than unfounded claim. We’ve always known the press was less than competent to report such things- but this is proof beyond a shadow of a doubt.
