Nijay Gupta made mention of it first (so far as I can tell) here. Unfortunately, he didn’t provide the always helpful link to the book’s info- so here it is. If you like Paul (the apostle guy) or Hays (the Festschrift receiving guy) then it may well be something you might want to acquire.

More Evidence John Hagee is A Heretic
May 22, 2008 at 4:38 pm (Theology, news)
… that God sent Hitler to help the Jews get to the promised land (Israel, not Auschwitz). Why did God allow the Holocaust to happen? According to a report in the Huffington Post by Sam Stein, Hagee’s answer was: “Because God said my top priority for the Jewish people is to get them to come back to the land of Israel.” The report raises several questions. Did God have to be so rough in his methods? Instead of putting the Jews on trains to Auschwitz, couldn’t he have gotten them bus tickets to Tel Aviv?
Hagee… One hears the name and one can only wince at the ridiculous nonsense shortly to follow. The reason this is coming out now is because Hagee is a McCain supporter… Poor McCain. He’s in a situation where he’s got this goofy friend and he wants to be nice to him, but everyone else knows he’s daft.
Texas Erred Again. Or Did It?
May 22, 2008 at 2:10 pm (Theology, news)
A state appellate court has ruled that child welfare officials had no right to seize more than 400 children living at a polygamist sect’s ranch.
Read the whole for the details. I would only opine that it is better to err on the side of caution than it is to let children suffer molestation and abuse. I think the folk down in Texas did the right thing by removing those kids from the compound and my opinion isn’t based on a bias against the cult’s theological presuppositions but purely on the fact that children are not capable of informed consent. So, Texas, for once, I applaud you: in spite of the court’s stupid ruling.

Parfitt Pleads For the Ark of the Covenant
May 22, 2008 at 8:00 am (archaeology)
“It could potentially be a great asset to either side as Zimbabwe is in the throes of profound religious excitement, which includes all sorts of signs and portents of the End of Days,” Parfitt said in an e-mail [to Ethics Daily]. “The best thing would be to get it out of Zimbabwe.”
Ah yes- there’s tremendous risk that if the ‘ark’ is made use of by the forces of darkness that the world will be plunged into chaos… Sort of like when the Nazi’s got hold of the ‘ark’ in the Indiana Jones movie. Because, as we all know, the ‘ark’ is really a transmitter.
[n.b.- that last paragraph is what we call sarcasm, for those who have injured sarcasm-ometers.]
I’m hoping to cash in on the ‘ark’ frenzy myself this week by mounting an expedition to the hills behind my house and discovering there the ark of the covenant, the ark of Noah, the high priest’s robes, Jesus’ other brother’s tomb, a few inscribed bitlets with biblical sounding names on them, a few ossuaries with questionable inscriptions, and of course a cache of scrolls in a cave. I’m sure they are all back there somewhere- brought by one of the tribes of Israel as it fled the onslaught of the Romans in 70 CE.

In Which I Respond to Scott’s Scurrilous Scandalous Supposition
May 22, 2008 at 7:39 am (Biblical Studies Resources)
Scott Bailey has declared me a false prophet simply because I predicted Archuleta’s victory over the forces of ‘rocker’ darkness as embodied in David ‘the cousin of Chris Tilling Antichrist’ Cook. I respond as follows:
1- If Jeremiah could miss a call from time to time, so can I.
2- It is a logical fallacy to suggest that my speaking the truth about Archuleta’s superiority and America’s inability to rightly judge means that I am wrong about our beloved Zwingli.
3- Finally, and to the heart of the matter, at least I ventured a prophecy! Did Scott…. Huh???? Well then, Scott, the sum of the matter is this: to you I say, - reading from 3 Hesitations 4:2 - “Thus Says the Lord- Nanny, Nanny, poo, poo!!!!!” Thus endeth the reading.
