Whether or not they were ‘proselytizing’ by giving out New Testaments- Uzi Aharon overstepped the boundaries of decency and should be reprimanded at least and ideally fired. Today. This is simply outrageous and the sort of thing one expects to see in some backward 3rd world country.

“This is simply outrageous and the sort of thing one expects to see in some backward third world country”???
America’s tolerance has led to an intolerance of religious freedom for the Christian. For it is the outspoken evangelical that believes in exclusivist claims that has made enemies. How is that any different?
I suppose that evangelicals should drop their exclusivism and engage in a reasonable dialogue about the political.
I’m not sure what you’re getting at- but if you are blaming evangelicalism for the actions of the vice mayor you’re doing nothing less than ‘blaming the victim.’ Show me an evangelical who burns bibles. Anyone’s.
Surprised, not me, same folks who burned IAA vehicles, destroyed archaeological sites, harassed us for decades. Many of them live on the principal of ‘loving god with all their heart and hating their neighbors with all their soul’. Will the government do anything, arrests, investigations, don’t bet on it as this type of behavior has become the norm towards ‘outsiders’ Jew and non-Jew alike.
I’ll try to resolve the problem with this deputy mayor and his contempt for The New Testament after I figure out what to do about the Communist Party of China and The House of Saud.
Ah I see Bjart, as long as the communists and the Saudis restrict access to the New Testament it’s ok for the Israeli’s to do it too. Got ya. Now it’s all clear.
That was not my meaning at all. I offer my opologies for not being clear(my sarcasm sometime gets in the way of my clarity). It is troubling to me that in this “civilized?, modern” age so many government representatives behave in this manner.
