The sort of thing he describes here is as far from Christianity as the sun is from Pluto. People never cease to amaze me. Smart folk follow cult leaders; stupid folk (so far as being educated is concerned) act wiser than learned politicians; and Christians adhere to the most idiotic nonsense as though it were manna from heaven. It’s just annoying. Too many things annoy me. I think I’ll move off to some deserted island and live like Tom Hanks did in Castaway.

Well, Jim, if you have as much faith as Bultmann you can believe that God does miracles without them actually happening. But for us mere mortals, as a concession to human weakness, it does help that people have actually been healed, whether by Jesus or through the ministry of Todd Bentley. Or perhaps it is because a real healing, like a real resurrection, is one that actually has some effect in the real physical world. But of course those who don’t believe God does or can do anything in the physical world, but only in a spiritual realm which we humans can barely glimpse, will continue to be sceptical of real healings and real resurrection.
