Big Brother Final Two

For heaven’s sake Sheila should have gone ages ago. She’s the whiniest contestant on the show ever. Good riddance. Still, since Sharon’s gone who cares really. She was the only one who deserved to win.

UPDATE:  She’s still crying….  aghhhh….  She reminds me of Nick Norelli…   ;-)

[n.b. - I know that was wicked but Nick deserves it what with his recent 'I hate the biblical languages' tirades and his joining in with like minded wicked souls]

Welcome to the United States Socialist Republic

That’s USSR. And it’s all because the 9 dress wearing folk at the Supreme Court think that the Constitution doesn’t apply anymore. The Associated Press reports

The Supreme Court affirmed Wednesday that police have the power to conduct searches and seize evidence, even when done during an arrest that turns out to have violated state law.

No surprise really. Since 9/11 and the birth of our incredibly irrational belief that everyone is our enemy and even those who are lifelong citizens aren’t to be trusted, the Court has been moving towards Autocracy and Tyranny. But at least one day many years from now you’ll be able to tell your great grand children that once upon a time, police power had limits! Called the law!

I have to admit, this search string certainly matches my personality, but don’t see how it makes it’s way to the page.

David Instone-Brewer has done a fantastic job of assembling a brilliant list of websites which offer maps for biblical studies. I’m adding a link to it on Biblical Studies Resources as well.

Thanks to Antonio for spotting this fascinating essay in the Guardian. Be sure to read it as it is certainly worth a few minutes.

Another Dilettantish Effort to Spin the Jesus Story

04/23/2008 8 comments

This time by a Dutch film-maker who will take up the Pantera raped Mary line of argumentation and set forth his notions in a book. Reuters reports

“Basic Instinct” director Paul Verhoeven will publish a revisionist biography of Jesus in September, following more than 20 years of research.

And what qualifies him for such an effort better than being a spinner of fiction?

Verhoeven decided to write the book to raise interest in his film project. His publisher, Amsterdam-based Meulenhoff, is in negotiations for an English-language translation.

Well at least he learned something from the Talpiot Lot: set the book and the movie to come out together and you can really cash in- even if your theories have absolutely no substantive basis in recoverable fact.
