The Death of a Pioneer’s Blog

26 03 2008

Back in the heady days of the beginning of biblioblogdom, Torrey Seland was a pioneer. Torrey was a co-panelist along with the other original bibliobloggers at the SBL Annual Meeting in Philadelphia and made a plea at that meeting for a coherent and intelligent along with well argued methodology of blogging. And today he’s quit. It’s too bad really.

Torrey’s an excellent scholar and a friendly guy and I like him very much. He informed a much wider audience about Philo than the dusty tomes restricted to university libraries and specialist’s bookshelves ever could. He understood the purpose of blogging to be the providing of information and he was very gifted at it. Again, it’s too bad. Farewell Torrey.
