Awww, Poor Thing…

It seems that she won’t make $1,000,000 after all. How sad. But this story did start me thinking- I wonder what the makers of certain sorts of ‘private shoppe’ magazines would pay for photos of various bibliobloggers? Here’s my guesses:

Antonio Lombatti- $400
Aren Maeir- $300
Ben Byerly- $400
Chris Brady- $200 (because of the beard…)
Chris Tilling- Yikes!!!!
David Ker- $400
Doug Chaplin- $500 (because he’s bald- it’s the Kojak effect)
Drew Tatusko- $600
Esteban Vazquez- $200 $205 (because of the chin fuzz thing who’s official name I can’t recall)
James Crossley- $1000 (he’s a very handsome man)
James McGrath- $300 (and I’m sure his wife loves him!)
James Spinti- $200 (both facial hair and advanced age… it’s the two strikes thing)
John Hobbins- $200 (same as above)
Mark Goodacre- $1000 (he’s a handsome man as well)
Nick Norelli- Yikes!!!
Rick Brannan- $400
Stephen Carlson- $450
Stephen Pfann- $200 (Same as Spinti….)

UPDATE: Pat McCullough- $400

[n.b.- naturally I'm far too shy and reserved to figure what folk would pay for a picture of me. And please, if I've offended you by the aforegoing bit I would apologize were I not disinclined not to do so... I think].

In any event I think it fair to say that, in these troubled times, bibliobloggers can’t generate the kind of interest that village tarts can. Alas, that’s quite a commentary on modern society. ;-)

[n.b. of the sentence following the first n.b.- Complain all you like, you fadists, but I'm not going to adopt the ridiculous 'biblicablog' etc. denominator.  I reject such fadism as nothing more than the effort to be 'contrarian and difficult' that one finds among 2 year olds].

  1. I am so disturbed! But at least I’m not included :)

  2. You are now…

  3. Me and Tilling fetching the same price?!! I don’t know whether to be honored or offended. :-P

  4. Bwahaha! That’ll teach Pat to keep really still and quiet next time he’s not in a list. ;-)

Meanwhile, this is outrageous! $200?! Clearly I’m not as handsome as either Crossley or Goodacre, but if David Ker can score $400, so can I! “Chin fuzz” my foot. ;-)

  5. Shoot. $400, eh? Hmmm… that could get me a couple good books! Maybe I’ll have to consider this.

  6. Or half of a Brill book, Pat!

  7. $205, eh? Well, at least that’s an improvement. :-P

  8. I don’t know if I should be flattered or if I should smack Jim across the chops the next time I see him. :)

  9. It looks like I might be able to fetch an additional $50 if I shave my head.

    Let the bidding begin.

  10. Do I read into a lack of Mike Bird that he’d fetch nothing?!

  11. Looks like I need to up my ante with pics of me playing with the band. Chicks dig drummers after all. Well at least my chick does ;-)

  12. Well James I would never imply such a thing as that would be rude… and I’m incapable of that vice.

  13. What an odd post. Surely you did not just prod me into picturing these guys naked. Ack!
And now is a time the sad shortage of female bibliobloggers becomes quite apparent.

  14. [...] who blogs and is on Facebook, I think I’d say it’s a positive phenomenon. As long as no naked photos or the like are revealed, I think online chumminess goes a long way towards making connections in [...]

  15. Further evidence we’re living during the tribulation.

  16. Joe, I was thinking about the same thing, but wasn’t sure if I should mention anything. There are certainly some gender issues to consider here.

  17. I’ve been off line for a few days. I’m sure by now you are hoping this will all just go away. My wife says to remind you that God will keep a record of your blog, even if someone else deletes it. ;-)

  18. I like your wife- she sounds like a wise woman. Go and read her Proverbs 31. ;-)
