That’s the title of a booklet published by Heinrich Bullinger published on this day in 1568.  Or, according to the full title (oh I love those 16th century titles consisting of phrase after phrase…) –

Das man die todten beyn nitt solle harfür graben samlen und behalten oder fürstellen sunder in di erden vergraben.  Wider die beynhüser.

Yes, if you’re going to bury your loved ones you should put them in the ground and not in a mausoleum.  And then - once asserting the proper practice for burial, Bullinger legitimizes his viewpoint theologically.

That’s the thing about the Reformers one has to appreciate.  Unlike the Wrightianist-Tillingsians (and he’s on my list today for his egregious Zwingli-defamation) who focus narrowly on one thing and strain the entrails of the gnat- the Reformers addressed issues on every hand.  Good on them.  Bad on the W-T’s!
